Maternal Minds CIC
Maternal Minds CIC was founded by Dr. Amy Stanhope as a community interest company (not for profit) dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of people who are pregnant or have given birth.
Maternal Minds CIC provides therapeutic interventions including one-to-one and group Art Psychotherapy to address perinatal mental health challenges such as birth trauma, postnatal depression, anxiety, and difficulties bonding with an infant. The CIC aims to provide interventions at little to no cost to participants, seeking to offer an alternative to funding challenges and waiting times within the NHS while offering support beyond the bounds of the time limited perinatal period.
Alongside therapeutic work, Maternal Minds CIC conducts research to amplify community voices, contribute to the evidence base for Art Psychotherapy in perinatal mental health, and advocate for change within policy and funding in the field. Workshops and presentations are available via the CIC, offering psychoeducation and creative exploration of themes such as the transition to motherhood.

Transition to Motherhood
The Gilstrap Trust generously awarded a grant to facilitate the provision of a 6 week Art Psychotherapy group in the Newark community for up to 8 participants. The group is open to self-referral for Newark residents identifying with challenges such as experiences of anxiety, depression or bonding difficulties at any point during pregnancy or following birth.
